MEET OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM

Scott Wilkinson

Director of Valiant Support

After finishing his Bachelor's Degree in Social Science Psychology in 2017, Scott searched for the industry to utilise his skillset with his passion for mentoring and social games to empower others. Scott formed a support philosophy that emphasised using an individual's passion as motivation for skill-building. Sharing many of the typical "nerdy" interests.

Scott began working as an independent support coordinator in 2018 after experiencing the frustration of families navigating the NDIS and the rigidity and unreliability of many more extensive services. His experience as a support coordinator has enabled the creation of innovative supports that combine recreational activities with psychological theory to produce natural and productive supports.

With five years’ experience working as a support worker for participants with ASD, Scott worked with over 35 participants with ASD, intellectual disability and mental health challenges.  Scott believes that we can help individuals create the life they want to live with perseverance and teamwork.

"I grew up playing dungeons and dragons and magic the gathering with my father. As a child and young teenager, I was shy (if you can believe it), and these games helped me develop my social skills and confidence in interacting with others. I later was introduced to the world of tabletop wargaming. I appreciate the persistence and patience required to turn bits of plastic into a beautiful piece of art. In addition, I love jiu-jitsu, it promotes assertiveness, physicality and control while avoiding hurting others. I have a pet Siamese fighting fish called Murloc.”

Heidi Otuana

Operations &  Business Development Manager

Since graduating from the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2016 with a Bachelors in Business, Events and Human Resource Management, Heidi has focused on working with like-minded organisations and contributing to real and meaningful change. She understands the importance of relationships and customer service, always striving to do right by her clients and enriching their lives any way she can.

During this time, she has not only managed multiple business, but has ensured continual positive growth. With her process-driven mindset, she is all about business efficiency and looking at ways to streamline processes, so we can spend time on what's important - working with participants to support them in achieving their goals!

'When I am not catching up with friends, watching the footy or taking my fur baby Archie out for an adventure; you'll find me engrossed in a competitive board games night or enjoying all that the stunning Sunshine Coast has to offer with my Husband. I love travelling, good food, good wine and most importantly... good company!'

Julia Filkorn

Administration Officer

Julia has worked in health services since 2015, and values meaningful work where she can give back to her community. She loves problem solving and creating efficient, user-friendly systems.

“I love being at home with my two dogs, Marcy and Bonnie (for Adventure Time fans, their full names are Marceline the Vampire Queen and Princess Bonnibel Bubblegum). I enjoy watching my favourite shows while doing anything creative, playing video games, and being a big natural history nerd. When I do leave the house, it will be to lift weights at the gym, walk my dogs, or spend hours beachcombing (preferably in the rain).”

Tanya Coetzee

"I enjoy reading, art, craft, playing the guitar, singing and crocheting in my spare time. I have many hobbies that help me relax and take every day as it comes. I enjoy reading fantasy and young adult genre novels. I have also played guitar since I was 14, and love pop-rock, alternative and pop music in general. I am a cat lady, Misty is my big grey cat whom I love to cuddle with every day."

Emily Keating

Emily loves working with individuals to build a community and practice social skills. In her spare time Emily has written many of her own stories and paints Dungeon and Dragons miniatures as hobby! She participates in painting groups to hone her skills and enjoys the sense of community

“A Jack of all trades, a master of none, this Canadian girl picks up hobbies like it’s going out of style. Roller skating and cooking are my latest endeavours. A hobby that’s always stuck with me is writing. I loved creating my worlds and characters! That, paired with my past in theatre and improv, translated well when I discovered Dungeons and Dragons. "

Luke Watson

Senior Support Worker

With over 20years experience in mentorship roles, Luke has a passion of working with those facing adversity. Luke's own health issues have led him on a road of personal growth and self-development. He has a background in health and fitness, has been a motivational speaker and facilitated numerous courses. He is an extrovert who always does his best to help others achieve their goals and support them on their personal journeys.

“I’m a creative individual and really enjoy playing my guitar, games, reading and thinking in the abstract. It is through the exchanging of ideas do we learn and I’m just so grateful to be experiencing this life with other human beings. I believe in uplifting and giving value to others and am learning each and every moment”

Telicia Daly

Senior Support Worker

Telicia, Known as Tee, is the eldest sibling of four children with ASD and ADHD. Tee’s support as an older sister has provided an intricate life experience and understanding of ASD. Coming from a strong barista background of 10+ years, she began her journey as a support worker with Valiant in mid 2021, striving for a more fulfilling career path which would enable her to use her life skills. Her support focus is on mentoring transitions from school to the workforce, starting small businesses and developing cooking skills.

“Growing up I loved books, I’m a huge fan of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and everything fantasy. I have qualifications in the beauty industry, which started from my love of special effects makeup and cosplay. I enjoy plant-based cooking, nutrition, DIY, crafting, spending time on my houseplants with my cat Bambi. I strongly believe in the self-expression of individuality through art and creativity.”
